Axles of evil get the grease
We all remember the now famous words of George W. Bush when he labeled Iraq, Iran and North Korea “The axis of evil” at his State of the Union address in 2002. His conviction in his comments were strength to right minded people but his critics cried aloud with vitriol.Of course the leaders of those countries didn’t like his comments either and voiced their opinions and shook their mighty fists. Most of the left shuddered with fear and criticized Bush for not handling them with diplomacy and dignity while he stood tall and ignored the noise.
The left lamented that world trust and image was being squandered by this cowboy whose just stomping everybody out with his boots.Boots that have mud on them from a day of real work at the ranch. Years of carrot and no stick were in jeopardy now because someone is actually standing up. Further fears of the left is that this type of approach would expose them for what they really are; spineless word jugglers who can spin any defeat into a ‘mutual compromise’ but in the end any progress is at the expense of the American peoples pocket books and slowly eroding freedoms.
The louder the shrills and veiled threats the less likely it was to get anything on Bushes watch. Even with the backing of the American press Bush handled his charge as leader of the free world on morals, conviction and what was good for America first.
Now of course the watch has changed hands and things are completely different. Squeaky wheels do indeed get the grease and the world knows it.
Iran is closer than ever (or so they say) to enriching uranium for nuclear purposes and this administration is willing to drop any pre conditions to have a talk. Kim Jong-il has launched a missile over Japan and he’ celebrates his victory by lying to his people and retires to bed to watch another porn marathon. He’ll sleep well tonight knowing the current administration won’t do much more than rattle their gums. Iraq is not a problem of course because George Bush saw to it that Saddam was deposed and planted the seeds of freedom which are now beginning to grow. Our current leader however is trying to figure out how to sell the redeployment of troops to “the good war” without making it look he’s broken his promise of them coming home.
Even small wheels seem to be getting greased up. The pirates in Somalia who were emboldened by 3 teenagers who held off a fleet of destroyers for as long as they could with nothing more than a couple of AK 47′s went on a spree of hi-jacking in the last 24 hours. Sure the military did a masterful job and perhaps the President gave full and honest attention to the matter. But the die is cast and Obama owns it. He’s not going to stand up to the world, he is a true paper tiger and that really doesn’t bode well for you and me.
Maybe it’s true that our standing in the world wasn’t the greatest under Bush, maybe other countries did hate us for our ability and willingness to get in a fight and scrap. But how do you think they’ll view us when we’re beaten down left with only pieces of worthless paper to show the world after we’ve been betrayed. What will Obama say?
While some may wish to leave our security up to the empty promises of proven liars but still look good, I would rather be seen as a brute knowing my head can lay down in peace tonight. The rest of the world will get along fine and in reality if they were honest they would rather have a big dog on the porch as well because they have stakes in this game too. They would prefer I’m sure, George W. Bush.
Fair Tax and Tea
In my 46 years I’ve only been to one tea party; I was about 10 or 11 and my sister and her Ms. Beasley doll invited me. I was embarrassed to go but they enticed me with promise of a cake that they were baking in their ‘Easy Bake Oven.’
Now all these years later and I’ve decided to go to my second tea party. No promise of food and I’m not at all apprehensive about what people will think or how they may talk.
I like millions of other Americans want my voice heard and added to the growing numbers who are fed up with our government taking too much. As if my tax percentage on my earnings isn’t enough, they take a cut of everything I purchase, services I use, inheritance I may receive and they even bill me for my ‘fair share’ of my home which is paid for and the list goes on and on.
Besides these, there are other boundaries that the imperial leadership of our country is trying to get it’s hooks into but suffice for now is that we as a nation tackle one problem at a time.
From everything I’ve heard about the events there will be speakers, petitions to sign and it seems well organized. Peaceful dissent is a valid way to protest and make our voices heard and besides the Acorn nuts that apparently are planning to infiltrate the tea parties, I’ve heard nothing about ruckus demonstrations. Just humble Americans coming together to create one loud, unmistakable voice.
The only problem that I see with the tea party is the lack of a solution to the huge tax burdens. It’s great to bring attention to the problem of course but people tend to be fickle and may come away disillusioned if nobody bothers to answer the question of, “what are we going to do now?”
My answer to that is ‘The Fair Tax”, actually it’s not my solution at all. It was the brain child of much smarter people than I. It’s being touted by the likes of Neal Boortz, U.S. Representitive John Linder, Governor Mike Huckabee and many others. Millions of dollars were put into its inception and the research it took to look at every conceivable outcome it may produce. These ‘smart’ people have concluded that it would change America almost overnight and all for the better. Rather than write the facts I know, I urge you to look at www.fairtax.org to see for yourself.
Perhaps the most compelling argument I’ve seen for the Fair Tax was recently made by Mr. Chuck Norris. He has put it into words that should inspire any American with a pulse to at least give it a fair hearing if they haven’t so far. Besides being a mega movie star with a mean hook kick, Norris is quite the advocate for the Fair Tax. If you’ll give his words a read you may just want to make a sign for the Fair Tax and join the party.
A simple message
Why is it that we Americans feel our lives are so terrible? Our hardships so unbelievably hard to bear and our paths in life are extremely difficult and always uphill.
We were told that our freedoms were being eroded away by the Bush administration. That in some deep concrete bunker was a team of people and computers listening to every conversation you ever had. Across town swat teams stood ready to swoop in and grab you off the streets and begin the long egregious process of freedom decontamination because you dared voice a dissenting opinion.
Every available mishap, mistake and bad deed was proof positive the Bush and Cheney team was running this Gestapo state. People in government who cried aloud with opposition were never heard from again. Of course no one ever disappeared but the Neo con war machine had ways of shutting you up.
President Bush couldn’t shut all of you up of course; brave souls did speak up every day on every channel of the radio, TV and internet forum there is. Such brave patriots decried Bush and exposed him for his lies and told the world such fantastic stories that only a true patriot would know.
These true americans were a busy lot, too busy to see Bushes true effects on the world. They missed the part where his actions saved untold millions of human beings in Africa by his direct leadership. They had no idea that the human shedder in Saddam’s palace has been stopped and gathering dust, the rape rooms silenced and 50 million Muslims are now free to pursue their happiness. They may have seen the unearthed mass graves of innocent men and women but quickly passed it off because there was a storm brewing in Abu Gahrib.
While private investigators looked into Bushes involvement with the planes crashing into our buildings he was too busy propping up the badly wounded economy and sending it off for a 52 month run of positive growth. When Katrina hit and the reporters asked the local government in charge what happened, the ‘news gathers’ were oh so gleeful to skip all the way up the chain of command and ignore the facts that led to such a calamity. President Bush couldn’t worry about others and their stories when he had so much to do. Massive manpower efforts had to be called in to do the job that just a few hundred (now flooded) buses could have.
The whole time these events were going on a little boy plays soccer half way around the world. He’s learning to read and write now which is remarkable because he’s never had access to a book, computer, TV or a radio. He hasn’t heard all these stories about George Bush. He only knows that women used to disappear from his neighborhood, and that brave men who sad bad things about Saddam would suddenly be gone as well. He didn’t have any hopes or aspirations for his future but he didn’t have any vision of what it could be like either. Hardships and despair were his daily struggle and pleasures were few.
He doesn’t understand all of what happened he only knows that America and the great people from there came to his country to make things better. He understands the concept of a leader as that was all too apparent under Saddam. So he knows that Bush caused his people to come and that Bush is the one who helped him and he is thankful. Such a simple boy who has only a simple message. One we’ll seldom see but one hopefully we can come to appreciate as this little boy grows up and his generation tells their story.
“Buyer Beware”
I think it fair to say that Americans wanted the change but only thought they needed the hope they were promised by now President Barack Obama. America it seems, can only stand so long for one regime and the balance of votes switch and the other side is elected if for no other reason than to have something new.
This time however that system may have failed us. Yes Obama is showing his ultra left colors and yes he’s going beyond the pale for even some prominent died in the wool democrats liking. But it seems to go beyond that; it seems that America is realizing they don’t have what was once steady and sure.
George Bush to many Americans whether they admit it or not was a rock that they could lean on. As captain of our ship you could depend on him for well thought out decisions and a man who truly had our best interests in mind. You didn’t wake up in the morning and fear for your financial future, nor did you feel the oppressive behemoth breath of the federal government taking over our free enterprise as you got your pink slip.
You were allowed the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution to pursue your happiness and to enjoy your rights as an American. You were free to succeed and millions from both sides of the isle took full advantage to do just that. You could even curse and demean the man who stood for you to protect these things and many of you did for 8 straight years; that man didn’t udder a single word in protest.
Call it buyer’s remorse or what you will but we’ve only had 3 months of our new president and people are already wishing or dare I say, Hoping for the same kind of stable America they once had when George W. Bush was at the helm.

One man’s stand, alone
I’m not sure who to credit this quote to but it goes like this;
Terrorist just have to be right once, we have to be right all the time.
I guess that means George W. Bush was right 100% of the time. After 9/11 there were NO terrorist strikes on American soil. This was no small feat and considering the fear that gripped us all and the strange events and changes that took place afterwards. I like millions of you was just waiting to hear of the next attack being announced on the news. Would it be a mall, school bus or a large gathering like say a World Series baseball game? No, President Bush worked tirelessly and made sure that did not happen. He enacted brave new rules like the Patriot act, tore down the walls of “no communication” between the C.I.A and F.B.I. Homeland Security was quickly put in place which streamlined and strengthened our efforts and many other things to keep our homeland safe. He rededicated himself and threw any aspirations of high polling numbers out the window when it was clear that such things would only get in the way of his charge to lead.
Aw but you say, Sept 11th was on his watch so he’s at fault, “He had actionable intelligence.” I’ve read Ben-Veniste’s comments and if I were a lawyer (which I’m not) I’d have no trouble throwing doubt all over that. “Possibilities, reports from 1998, Bin laden vowed to strike Washington, didn’t connect the dots”, and on it goes. This plan of terror was not seen by anyone in any clarity what so ever and to lay the blame at the feet of Bush is nothing but smear politics.
If you want “actionable intelligence”, let’s talk Katrina. As stated I’m not a lawyer and I’m also not a weatherman but even I saw the possibilities of the storms final destination some 4 days before it hit. Did Ray Nagin live up to his duties? How about the lovely Governor of Louisiana? The answer is no and the responsibility for disasters such as these are the state and local governments FIRST.Just ask Jeb Bush, he dealt with 4 monster hurricanes in one season. The federal government only comes in by design when it’s too much on that level. Still the buses sat and thousands refused to leave. Another local politician who was also responsible and powerful enough to get things moving was too busy stacking wads of money in his freezer to be of any help. So what happened? President Bush steps in and amasses a heroic roof top rescue of 30,000 citizens who got marooned by the powerful storm and he gets no credit. While the local pundits had the resources and forewarning Bush had to assemble his task force from literally every corner of the country. Bureaucracy on a good day is slower than a snail on valium; Bush had his plan in action as soon as the storm passed.
Iraq; this was a clarion call for the peace nicks to unite against George Bush the tyrant. He was definitely wrong to invade; they had nothing to do with 9/11. Besides they didn’t even have weapons of mass destruction.
First off you tell that to the 60,000 people who died when Saddam unleashed chemical weapons on them. I’m sure there families will agree with you that 60,000 dead hardly constitutes the use of a WMD. And just how is it that Bush was so wrong but when Clinton, Rockefeller, Kerry and the rest of the world thought the same thing? Even the world’s largest body of ‘community organizers’, the U.N. was against Saddam Hussein and drafted 17 resolutions for him to essentially cease and desist. I guess they didn’t use enough bold type because Hussein with his mighty army just thumbed his nose at all of us. Now, just a few years later and look at who’s using their thumbs? The Iraqi people are voting peacefully and living better lives than anyone ever thought possible. 50 million Muslims have been freed from tyranny and oppression by one man’s stand and still that is not enough.
While our current president is off traveling the world apologizing for Americas sins and using every opportunity to shift any and all blame on his predecessor, George Bush remains quiet and supportive. There is another quote I cannot give credit to but I do know of a man to whom I can. George W. Bush.

An essay on truth
The date is September 10th 2046; Sarah has come home from school a little bewildered. Her history assignment due tomorrow is to write a short essay on George W. Bush and his time as president. She is only allowed to use the archive system of the net and this has her frustrated.
“Dad, can I ask you to help me?” she asks. Her father smiles and looks away from his pod paper, “Sure sweetheart, what do you need?”
She explains the situation and how the archives are filled with negative stories and awful things that just can’t be true. “We learned a little about President Bush and how his decisions made this country so much safer and prosperous, how come everyone hated him?” Her father is at a loss to explain saying he was just a young boy during those times, “Why don’t you message Grandpa? He lived through it and maybe he can give you some help.”
Sarah clicks into Grandpa’s net cam and finds him out in the garden. She explains her dilemma and she is happy when Grandpa says he is very pleased to help. “Let me clean up and I’ll click you back in a few moments.”
The two connect and Grandpa has on the table next to him a very old looking trunk. “I want to show you a few things, I think they may help.” He begins to pull out old newspapers and shows Sarah the headlines.Terrorist strike, Americans look towards Bush, Bush stands strong, Congress united with Bush. He tells his granddaughter how the whole world was behind Bush in the first few weeks after 9/11, that the country needed a leader in this the most perilous time and George Bush rose to the challenge. He explained how he had never seen the country so gripped in fear and how eerie feelings of being lost in disbelief captivated every citizen. “Those towers coming down were a wakeup call to everyone” he said with a somber voice.
“What changed?” she asked. “Nothing changed my dear”, he explained, “the same people who despised President Bush still hated him even though they pretended to be united. He had to make strong decisions to safeguard America and that went against their preconceived ideas of what America should be.”
Grandpa went on and told her how the news outlets of that day tried to discredit him at every turn almost as if they wanted him to fail. Otherwise respected journalists, with years of distinguished service actually made stories up just so he would lose the next election. “Bush never gave into those guys’s he chuckled; he just went right on making the tough calls and beat back his critics with conviction and morals. When he was proven right he could’ve been vitriolic but never was.”
Still confused Sarah asks, “That still doesn’t answer my question Grandpa, why did the people who he served so well dislike him so? I could only find a few positive things and a web site that thanked him but only a few thousand people actually did. They speak of President Bush the same way we see him today.”
Leaning back and trying to come up with an answer to the same question he’s also had these many years he replies; “People in my day were led astray, they were told to believe that words and papers signed by world leaders would be enough to keep the killers away. It is much easier to condemn some group and hope they stop plotting and killing than it is to actually do something about it. Bush knew that decisive action had to be taken and even though his poll numbers went down and everybody who briefly stood with him when they were afraid to even go shopping were now gathered together with a mob style mentality and it became so much easier to blame Bush. It got so bad that they started blaming everything on him and the news people were happy to fan the flames. It was difficult to be a Bush supporter back then because everyone formed their opinions based on a few short news bites rather than on the truth. Now days of course that has changed as time and lack of emotion have eaten away all of the falsehoods they cast on him.”
Sarah was slightly enlightened but still amazed at how short sighted people could be. Grandpa told her that “It’s easy to stand back now and know that George W. Bush was a great president who fought hard for his country. We know the truth and no one is peppering us with constant negatives. Why don’t we look at that web site you found and see if we can figure out what those people saw that apprieciated him back then. Maybe then we can get that paper done for your history class.”
Just in time
The speed of the Obama administration is something to behold. It’s only been 2 months and he’s managed to spend a whopping $2,290,000,000,000 ($2.29 trillion).That’s about 45 billion a day! It took the U.S. government 191 years from its start to rack up its first trillion dollars and Obama more than doubles it in less time than it takes a German roach to infest a kitchen. Our hats off to you ‘O’.
While each American citizen is on the hook for about $36,000.00 Obama is feverishly trying to increase our tax burden. I’m sure he’d like to just come right out and take it and so far he’s done a pretty good job of that. No, this time he’s trying the proven method of ‘stealth taxes.’ One of the chosen vehicles for now is a high tax on cigarettes,evil no good health robbing cancer sticks, no one should mind this, right? Tell that to a law abiding, taxpaying smoker. Another tax being bandied about is on ‘green house gases’ which has not been adopted yet but most believe it will result in c02 taxes on energy use not only from your car but everything you use to light up a room or travel in. This could cripple our already lame economy and something Bush turned back twice when it was called the Kyoto Protocol. Since then by the way, the United States c02 emissions have fallen by 3%. Another ‘atta boy’ to George Bush.
Obama’s sense of timing is almost laughable. It’s as if he knows what he’s saying is a lie and that most Americans don’t buy it, but why should he care? He’s got the bully pulpit and a permanent spot for his teleprompter so he’ll just throw it out there and let his media do the spin game for him.
Never before in our history has a tax cut taken effect faster or gone to so many hardworking Americans,” Obama said in his weekly video and radio address.
That said Obama knows that all the above FACTS will be overlooked or forgotten. This one sound bite will hit the papers,(what’s left of them) and all the major news outlets and that’s all most Americans will hear and believe.
This so called tax cut results in a $65.00 per month decrease in your taxes. This means you’ll have $15.00 extra dollars per week in your pay checks. Now be good little minions and get out there and stimulate that economy.
The sad irony of this supposed tax cut that will help heal the nation, becomes law on April 1st, 2009; otherwise known as April Fool’s day. Just in time ‘O’, just in time.
A warranty we can believe in
Today marks an historic event for us here in the U.S.A., The federal government is now in the business of car warranties. That’s right, from this day forward should your GM car break down you’ll have the full fledged backing of Barack Obama to get her fixed.
President Obama wasn’t happy with the plan for restructuring GMs top brass put together so he demanded that they go back to the drawing board. He also wasn’t pleased with CEO Rick Wagoner so he axed him and proclaimed a new day and a new way of doing business in America.
This new way is much like the hostile takeovers used by mobsters and loan sharks and it is not so new. Give a loan to someone under the guise of a bailout and then beat them over the head with it, take majority stock and make all the rules. The recipient can do very little just trying to stay alive and the public is none the wiser. In fact most believe this is what’s good for America and damn those CEO’s anyway because they’re rich and don’t deserve anything in the way of bonuses let alone should the company profit.
In a bit of irony Obama did mention the possibility of GM having to go bankrupt and start again. This seems like quite a waste since we’ve spent billions in taxpayer money and should have done this from the start. Bankruptcy wouldn’t mean the end of a Silverado in your driveway or a Chevy Impala on the lot. What most likely would occur would be the restructuring of union contracts so that the heavy burden of health care pay outs and the ‘golden parachute’ retirement plans which are somehow ‘OK’ would be brought down to a reasonable level. This may be too much of sacrifice however and I’m sure they’ll make their voices heard.
There seems to be no end to the hats Obama’s wearing these days. He’s had a bankers visor, stock brokers cap, military, gas station attendant, mortgage broker, NCAA football helmet and now a Mr. Good wrench ball cap. Unfortunately for us none of these hats have been a good fit and apparently are covering his eyes, because nobody with good vision could possibly be this bad at fixing things.

The honeymoon is over
Recent polls indicate President Obama’s approval rating is going down. This is interesting to me; is it because Americans were promised houses and full gas tanks? Can it be that since we didn’t get instant satisfaction we are disappointed?
Obama seemed to want our expectations tempered when he knew he had the job but there was no shortage of quick fix talk when he was on the campaign trail. So either way these are his polls, he owns them and can’t blame the lagging confidence on Bush.
While I agree we are a society of instant gratification, the majority of us are not stupid and when we have our president laughing and ‘punch drunk’ about our crisis situation (his words not mine) we may have reason for pause. When the leader of the free world is spending every Wednesday night frolicking with the privileged in an all night dance party those of us without our rent money may seem a bit miffed and rightfully so. When our commander and chief who spent so much time and effort letting us know he was going to pull us out of Iraq turns around and announces ‘surge II’ in Afghanistan we might begin to wonder. Speaking of Iraq, his budget touted huge savings we could count on with our withdrawal, with his ‘stimulus’ however we are now in debt 8 or 9 times greater than the cost of this conflict and that’s not counting his Afghanistan strategy.
The honeymoon is over and the pressure and responsibility of our concerns are squarely on president Barack Hussein Obama. Only 2 months in and Americans are wondering if he gets it. Sure there are those who care more about his March madness brackets and whether or not Michelle will be wearing purple or ruby red to tonight’s big gala but those are the elitists who could care less about you or me anyway. Well that’s not fair or entirely true, there are those who are still waiting and hoping on disasters edge that Obama makes good on his promises that swayed their votes (as if they’d be swayed regardless) and still there are those who will not admit they were wrong to place such a man with no experience in this, the world’s highest office.
You’re on the internet now, poke around, do you see all the banner ads asking you to vote, “Do you think Obama was a mistake?” “Do you wish you didn’t vote for Obama?” How’d they get up there if he was doing such a grand job?
Americans are waking up to this marriage and it’s like we’ve spotted this huge ugly mole that we didn’t see when we were dating, or those quirky relatives we could put up with for an hour or so at get a together have now moved in and are sharing your bathroom.
Obama did carry us across the threshold and we are in his care for the next 4 years; but it’s as if he hit our head on the door jam and then dropped us on the floor. The love is fading fast and no amount of teleprompter speeches are going to fill your hybrids and pay your home loan just one more month to keep the government controlled banks from seizing your castles away from you.
The next 4 years are going to be very difficult indeed, even as Obama has said. Not for the same reasons he has stated but for his out of touch grandioso plan of a socialized European style living we’ll all be forced to adopt and live with.
For those of you coming to this realization and for those who will come later when the pain is too great. We welcome you and encourage you to Thank W, get involved and see if we can’t right these wrongs the next time we get a chance. Not that we’re keeping track mind you.
Defenders of the right
There are many staunch ‘right leaning’ thinkers who defend their positions regardless. The same can be true of those on the left; perhaps for now they are a little louder but thankfully that is changing.
It is refreshing however to find those who defend ‘right’; not the political position mind you but that which is right without respect to those who it offends or those who may agree with it. I truly believe there are a whole lot of these kinds of folks but they are too busy living life, taking care of their families and being good toward all men where possible for them to loudly voice their opinion.
So those individuals who take leadership roles in this realm are usually extraordinary people. Mr. Bud Hedinger is one of these people and his voice is one that resonates with truth and common sense that all of us can relate to. Bud has passionately stood up for President Bush and defended his administration on some very tough issues. Tough for those of liberal thinking but common sense for us who look towards our God and ourselves for living this gift we call life.
Mr. Hedinger is host of a very popular radio show on am WFLA 540 Orlando. The Budman as he is affectionately called fields calls from 3 to 6 weekdays and is extremely entertaining. You can also catch him live streaming on the web. Unlike most hosts, Hedinger has a propensity to listen to the callers and allows them to speak their minds. If by chance you call and get cut off you probably crossed a line somewhere or just cannot be reasoned with.
One other characteristic which The Budman has is that he puts his words into actions. It would be easy enough I’m sure for him to tout his beliefs all week long knowing he has a huge audience and that to most, he would be “doing his part.” Quick to champion self reliance and less government his on air persona is as real off the radio. Voice/Bud Hedinger Inc. is an entrepreneurial business that shines as an example of “do as I do.” Bud however takes his gift of communication much further and tirelessly “stands up for what is right.” He has also placed a link which is very generous on his blog to thankw’s sign the Thank you letter to President Bush. He did this without reservation and again it demonstrates his heart, actions and words are in lockstep with each other.
Recently there has been a movement afoot around the nation to express our displeasure with the government’s action regarding their reckless handling of our money. A grass roots effort has spawned with the idea of a “tea party” action similar to the famous “Boston Tea Party from over 200 years ago. Hedinger has jumped in with both feet and a microphone. Over 4000 Orlando residents showed up with signs and loud but peaceful voices. Bud Hedinger not only emceed the event but was also the leading figure in drawing such a huge crowd. People are taken by his lead and get in motion when he makes a call for action. In this day and time people such as this are getting harder and harder to find.
Compassionate conservatism is a term that some may label Hedinger with, right winged is perhaps another. I think personally there should be a sub category for people like Bud; those who are “Standing up for what’s right”
